British Gas drops energy prices
04/02/2010
British Gas has announced a 7% drop in energy prices today. This is likely to be followed by drops from other energy suppliers - who will want to ensure that they remain competitive in this sector.
British Gas has come under criticism for this move as it followed a big push to sign customers up to fixed energy prices before announcing the price cuts. The cuts only apply to those customers on standard tariffs - so fixed price customers will not feel the benefit of the cuts.
If you are considering switching to an alternate energy supplier it would be worthwhile waiting until the dust settles as there will undoubtedly be changes to prices across the industry.
